walking throught the zoo the other day, I looked deep into the eyes of the caged animals, how sad and lonely they all looked. Now i want you to know I have noticed this before but always chalked it off to ...Becky stop putting human emotions into the eyes of animals. They are full and lathargic, in need of a nap. thats all! Until.... I looked into the eyes of an elephant and saw tear after tear run down her majestic face. She was not full, her heart ached. Not only could you see it but honestly you could feel it! I found myself wiping away my own tears wishing I could in some way wipe hers and make the pain of iosolation the lonliness and want disappear from her heart her soul. As I stood there held hostage in her gaze she outstreatched her trunk to me I in return outstretched my hand to her and patted her gently for one split moment we were unitited in understanding ....we are not to different after all.

Very well written. You describe perfectly why I no longer go to the zoo.

True Jag I will not disagree with you. But for your information married or not I still feel loneliness, isolation, and want. Now just to make an important statement I dont want you to think that these feeling I hold were created because my husband ignores me or is a tyrant of some sort, that is the farthest from the truth. But he is a soldier and he is fighting a war for the 3rd time in 5 years so lonliness has become a friend of mine..... Im not here to find a partner I have one, I am here to find friends.

That was beautiful and observant Kalicokat and I am glad to say that our local zoo is being phased out for such reasons.  The only good reason for animals in captivity is for breeding of threatened species and even then there must be very tight control on the care and maintenance of them

OH girl I like your style! You have a way with words that had me thinking I was right there with you and that elephant. I had to reach for a tissue! Sweet story...and yes, animals do have feelings. They suffer from depression on a different level but it's real...especially in captivity. Keep writing!

kalicocat That's not exactly right. Those caged zoo animals don't have any choice in their situation and maybe it's time that people stopped going to those places thereby removing the reason for putting animals there. But people are only in a situation whereby they're single when they don't want to be by circumstances made by people themselves.Sometimes it's of our own making and as in my case it was others being married men looking for (and getting) second and third chances in life with the single girls who I wanted but who decided that it's better to wreck a home and leave me on the shelf. But according to your profile you're married? so there should'nt really be any reason for you to feel like that elephant or me.
